  • Total Time: 38 minutes
  • Yield: 12 bombs (4 servings) 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large loaf Italian bread or ciabatta
  • 8 oz fresh lump crab meat
  • 12 oz large shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 8 garlic cloves, minced
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Chop the shrimp into 1/4-inch pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Gently fold the lump crab meat into the shrimp, keeping the crab pieces as intact as possible.
  4. Add the softened cream cheese and mix until combined.
  5. Stir in 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
  6. Add 6 cloves minced garlic, parsley, green onions, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  7. Mix gently until the seafood filling is evenly combined.
  8. Slice the Italian bread into 1-inch thick rounds.
  9. Hollow out the center of each bread slice to create a cavity for the filling.
  10. Melt the butter with the remaining 2 minced garlic cloves in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  11. Brush the bread rounds inside and out with the garlic butter.
  12. Place the hollowed bread rounds on a lined baking sheet.
  13. Spoon the seafood filling generously into each bread cavity.
  14. Top each bread bomb with the remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.
  15. Bake for 16-18 minutes until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  16. Remove from the oven and let cool for 2 minutes before serving.

Notes

Pat the shrimp completely dry before chopping to prevent watery filling. Fresh lump crab meat gives the best texture and flavor. Chill the filling for 30 minutes before assembling for easier handling.
